Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to InVeris Training Solutions, Inc. for the Firearms Training System (FATS) in the Amount of $85,849.21 under General Services Administration (GSA) Price Schedule GS-00F-113DA
BACKGROUND:
Simulation training offers many features that allow police departments to train officers in a cost-effective and efficient way. The Inveris FATS 100P Portable Virtual Training System offers interactive stress-based decision-making, utilization of de-escalation verbal techniques and legal training. This is accomplished through hands-on individual and team training in life-like scenarios, which have a multitude of outcomes based on a trainee’s actions. Post training “after action” reviews are conducted to reinforce positive training outcomes. The system will be utilized in our employment process, officer required training, as well as community outreach and educational events. It will also enable the MIPD to train in a controlled setting while reducing training costs, overtime and injuries associated with training, as well as municipal liability based on a failure to train. The funding was approved in the FY22 Capital Budget process utilizing the Police Department Impact Fees.
