BACKGROUND

On March 2, 2020 Marco Island City Council approved the contract with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) for the update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Phase I/FY20 portion. The cost for that phase was $74,623 and has been completed.

The selection committee members thought FGCU approach was well thought out and realistic providing a deliverable for both phases. Phase I will provide the research, civic engagement, and the framework report, providing the recommended changes to the Comprehensive Plan.

Phase II will draft the amendments and seek input from City officials and the public and coordinate the adoption of the amendments with the City and State.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:

$75,000 has been approved in FY2021 Budget, G/L 001-5150-523100.
