BACKGROUND:
The bike lanes and shared path master plan for the City of Marco Island includes an 8ft. wide concrete shared path on N. Barfield Dr. from N. Collier Blvd. to Bald Eagle Dr. This project is funded and scheduled for FY 2024. The project includes pedestrian crosswalk striping at six locations, one of which includes adding signs with flashing beacons. Also included with this project are exfiltration swales adjacent to portions of the new path for water quality prior to discharging to the canal system.
This project (ITB #2024-002) was advertised on January 28, 2024. 416 suppliers were notified, 22 downloaded the bid package and the City received a total of four bids on March 1, 2024. Each bid included a $50,000 owner-initiated contingency for unforeseen expenses.

Upon examination of the submitted bids, city staff has determined that the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder is Infinite Construction, LLC. City staff recommends awarding the contract to Infinite Construction, LLC for the construction of the North Barfield Shared Use Path.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for the shared path portion of the project is provided in the capital "PW Bike Path - Committee Priority" account (300-5400-5410-606300-16034) and for the exfiltration swale portion in the capital "PW Swale and Stormwater Improvement" account (300-5400-5410-606300-20004).
