BACKGROUND:
The project area is an approximate 0.6 mile (3,100 feet) corridor of South Collier Boulevard, starting at Huron Street then continuing east and then north to Swallow Avenue, then continuing north to near the cul-de-sac on Collier Court. The swales have a small volume capacity and water quality treatment is limited. The project is purposed to design exfiltration systems (French drains) in the bottom of the roadside swales subject to available space and utility constraints. These exfiltration systems would consist of a simple perforated pipe and gravel pack system that would facilitate infiltrating a higher volume of stormwater into the ground thereby reducing the amount of runoff that would drain via the storm inlets. This would provide the City both a flooding and water quality benefit. In order to implement the project, a design needs to be completed including topographical survey, utility designation, ecological screening, preparation of design plans and construction specifications.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this Purchase Order is included in the FY24 Capital Budget "pay as you go" plan under G/L no. 3005410-606300-20004, PW Swale & Stormwater Improvement.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to Geosyntec Consultants for Professional Engineering Services for the South Collier Boulevard Stormwater Improvements Design in the Amount of $89,788.52 using the City of Marco Island Contract #2023-009 for Professional Services.
