BACKGROUND:
On August 15, 2022 Vice-Chairman Grifoni presented to City Council a Blue Zones presentation on workforce housing. It was agreed by the Council to schedule a workshop to identify specific policy options and implementation steps that could be taken on Marco Island to address workforce housing needs.
Attached is a document that outlines three potential options for Council consideration:
• Allow mixed use in commercial areas
• Allow additional density in either residential or commercial areas specifically for workforce housing
• Work with Collier County to develop a partnership on existing housing initiatives
