BACKGROUND

The scope of services for this Change Order is to provide to the City of Marco Island proper installation of a new section of seawall that has failed at a City owned stormwater outfall.  Due to differing site conditions from the original design in 2018 and found during a pre-construction inspection by Public Works staff and the Contractor, it became necessary to provide a radically different seawall repair than was originally specified.  The original proposed repair using standard concrete sheet panels would not solve the continuing failure of the seawall.  This change will provide for 24 feet of Truline Rigid Vinyl U-Channel wall panels that are filled with concrete to provide a secure and stable system. 

 

Quality Enterprises USA, Inc. is our contractor for this project under Contract No. 2021-029, effective September 8th, 2021.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT

Funding for this Change Order will come from the Capital Improvement Program “pay as you go” G/L 3005410-606300-16027, Citywide Drainage Improvement Program which contains $1,302,000.00 specifically for this type of drainage improvement.

 

RECOMMENDATION

City Staff has reviewed the change order and recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve the Change Order No. 1 for the San Marco Road and Heathwood Drive Intersection Reconstruction Project in the amount not to exceed $115,127.84.
