Collier County Redistricting Presentation - David Weeks, Collier County Board of County Commissioners’ Redistricting Project Manager

BACKGROUND:
The Collier County Board of County Commissioners’ Redistricting Project Manager, David Weeks, will provide a presentation to the City Council and Marco Island residents about the process and timeline for redistricting in Collier County.
Redistricting is the redrawing of congressional and state legislative districts to adjust for uneven growth rates in different parts of the state. Districts determine which voters participate in which elections. This term also applies to County Commission Districts and for the same reason - to address population inequity. The Collier County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) authorized staff to prepare maps of proposed Districts boundaries, using specific criteria. Five evening Public Meetings in November 2021 will provide opportunity for attendees to review the proposed maps and ask questions. A brief presentation will be made at the beginning of each of those meetings.
