BACKGROUND:
CITY COUNCIL SUMMARY

There were no comments from the public.
PROPOSED ORDINANCE DESCRIPTION:
As we are all aware the City of Marco Island participates in the Community Rating System program (CRS), which is a voluntary program through the federal emergency management agency (FEMA); in order to allot the residents a discount on their flood insurance premiums.
Every three years a new CRS manual is issued. which always has amendments and new prerequisites.
At the issuance of every new CRS manual, we (the City), must re-evaluate our scoring and ensure we continue to maintain enough points to remain a Class 5.
One of the modifications to the CRS manual was in section 450 which is Stormwater Management Activity.
This proposed ordinance will expand upon Ordinance 18-07 to meet certain requirements of the CRS program.
The proposed has been discussed with the Insurance Service Office (ISO) the consultant to FEMA for the CRS program, and that the proposed would suffice for the referenced points. As specified above the CRS manual was amended and so the City is adjusting their ordinance accordingly.
