Discussion - 2021 Fourth of July Fireworks Show

BACKGROUND:
In 2020, due to COVID-19, the City cancelled its annual fireworks display. Staff is seeking direction from Council on whether the City should plan for a Fourth of July fireworks display this year. We currently have a contract in place with Zambelli Fireworks and $65,000 has been budgeted in the FY21 budget for fireworks.
If Council wishes to host the annual fireworks event, we will begin initiating the contract and publicizing the event.
MICA has not yet determined if it will have its Uncle Sam’s Sand Jam event on July Fourth. MICA’s Residents’ Beach will be open to Residents’ Beach members as usual.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: $65,000.00 is available in GL Account 001-5720-523420 (Parks & Recreation - Community Recreation Programs).
