BACKGROUND

At the November 9th City Council meeting, Council agreed to discuss priorities for the Collier County State Legislative Delegation, including scheduling an update with lobbyist Ronald L. Book.

Attached is a staff report with proposed legislative priorities for Council consideration.  The report includes three attachments: 1) Notice of Collier County State Legislative Delegation Day, 2) Tide Leveling Project Request Form, and 3) Florida League of Cities Legislative Priorities.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  If the tide leveling project is approved by City Council and approved for state funding, the potential state funding would be $425,000 and the City’s matching contribution would be $325,000.  City General Fund Reserves could be used for the $325,000 matching funds.

RECOMMENDATION:   Direct staff to work with Ron Book and the Collier County State Legislative Delegation to support the City’s legislative priorities and endorse the Florida League of Cities legislative agenda.

POTENTIAL MOTION: Move to direct staff to work with Ron Book and the Collier County State Legislative Delegation to support the legislative priorities as identified in the staff report, and to endorse the Florida League of Cities legislative agenda.
