Award of Contract for the Construction of the Balfour Drive Sidewalk Project to the Lowest Responsible Bidder, Bonness, Inc. in the amount of $344,186.95

BACKGROUND:
At the request of the City Council, the Public Works Department advertised bids for the construction of the Balfour Drive Sidewalk Project. The project was advertised on September 17, 2020 and bids were received and opened on October 22, 2020. The City received five (5) bids as follows:
1. Bonness, Inc. $344,186.95
2. Coastal Site Development. $369,252.40
3. American Design Engineering Construction $391,297.50
4. Pavement Maintenance, LLC. $391,699.00
5. Andrew Sitework, LLC. $553,156.69
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is included within the FY21 “pay as you go” Capital Improvement Program under G/L No. 3005410-606300-19010 which contains $445,707.41.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff has reviewed the bid submittals and supporting documents and recommends that the Contract be awarded to Bonness, Inc., in the amount of 344,186.95, which includes $31,289.72 in a City controlled contingency account.
