Ordinance - First Reading - Amending Chapter 22 of the City’s Fire Prevention and Protection Ordinance to reflect changes in the Triennial Adoption of the Florida Fire Prevention Code
Body
BACKGROUND:
The City of Marco Island Fire Prevention and Protection Code proposed ordinance is amended to be in compliance with the new Florida Fire Prevention Code. The Florida Fire Prevention Code is updated on a triennial cycle through the State Legislature.
The State Fire Prevention Code is the minimum code standard. The State grants the City the authorization to adopt more stringent codes based on local conditions within the adoption cycle. No additional local codes have been incorporated into the ordinance during this update cycle.
The proposed amended ordinance removes sections of the local ordinance that are now adequately addressed by the State Fire Prevention Code and includes minor formatting changes within specific chapters.
