Veterans’ Community Park 60% Construction Document Cost Estimate and Project Status

Body

BACKGROUND

Kimley-Horn and Associates began the design process for Veteran’ Community Park in September 2019, and provided a 60% Design package for review on April 3, 2020.  Subsequent to that project submittal date, on June 5, 2020, the City of Marco Island hired Manhattan Construction as our Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) for the Park Project.  The initial task for the CMR was to review and provide input on the 60% Landscape and Architectural Design plans and to also provide a preliminary cost estimate for construction.  Attached for review is the Veterans’ Community Park Final and Approved 60% Construction Document Estimate.

The City also received notice that the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program has awarded a $200,000 grant to help pay for the Veterans’ Park Play Area.

The 90% Construction Document will be submitted on September 30, 2020.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT

Current Construction cost estimate = $8,634,331.00 (with grant deduction)

RECOMMENDATION:

After review of the submittal and following a design team meeting to evaluate value engineering deductions from the project estimate, staff recommends that City Council accept the Veterans’ Community Park Final and Approved 60% Construction Document Estimate.

POTENTIAL MOTION:

“I move to accept the Veterans’ Community Park Final and Approved 60% Construction Document Estimate as submitted by Manhattan Construction on July 31st, 2020.”
