Discussion - Resolution 15-78 Prohibiting Electronic Participation in City Meetings

BACKGROUND:
Resolution 15-78 (attached) prohibits electronic meeting participation via telephone, Skype or other similar forms of electronic communication by City Councilors or any appointed board or committee member at all public meetings of the Marco Island City Council or at any of the City’s appointed boards or committees.
Recently, Council voted to waive this prohibition to allow telephone participation by Council due to the COVID-19 pandemic “Safer at Home” executive order issued by Governor DeSantis.
