Approving Purchase Orders to Eli Contracting, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $200,006.16 for the Repair and Replacement of City Owned Sidewalks on Marco Island

BACKGROUND

The City of Marco Island currently is responsible for the ownership and maintenance of approximately 24 miles of concrete sidewalks and shared use pathways. Recent inspections of these sidewalks and pathways indicated that are numerous areas where damaged or destressed areas could cause a tripping hazard. This project will consist of the removal and replacement of 578 square yards of concrete sidewalk/pathways at 61 locations and will eliminate all the hazard area currently listed. The project will be divided into three (3) purchase orders.

 

Eli Contracting, Inc., is a City General Construction Services Contractor under Contract 14-015 and Resolution 17-87, effective until September 1st, 2020.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT

Funding for these purchase orders will be provided by the Public Works Capital Improvement Program “pay as you go” G/L No. 3005410-606300-20025, Sidewalk Replacement Program.

 

RECOMMENDATION

City staff has reviewed the contractor’s proposals and recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve three (3) purchase orders for the Repair and Replacement of City owned sidewalks on Marco Island in an amount not to exceed $200,006.16.
