Resolution Approving the Articles of Incorporation for the Creation of the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation, Inc.

BACKGROUND:
At the December 2, 2019 meeting, Council directed the city attorney to finalize the Articles of Incorporation and prepare the resolution for adoption.
Article VI of the Articles of Incorporation provides for a Board of Directors that will be responsible for the direction and control of all matters pertaining to the Corporation.
As outlined in Section 6.3, Appointment of Directors, “… the City Council shall initially nominate six (6) members of the Board of Directors. All appointments shall be made by the City Council members, or the City Manager subject to final approval by City Council.”
It is recommended that following the approval of the resolution, Council direct that the appointments to the Board of Directors be advertised and the applications of interested volunteers be placed on the February 18 agenda for Council’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval of resolution; direction to staff to advertise for the appointments to the Board of Directors.
