Award of Contract for the Construction of the North Collier Boulevard Sidewalk Project to the Lowest Responsible Bidder, Coastal Site Development, in the Amount of $589,658.00

BACKGROUND:
At the request of the City Council, the Public Works Department advertised bids for the construction of the North Collier Boulevard Sidewalk Project. The project will consist of the installation of concrete sidewalks of varying widths along both sides of North Collier Boulevard from Elkcam Circle easterly to Buttonwood Court.
The project was advertised on September 26, 2019 and bids were received and opened on November 14, 2019. The city received three (3) bids as follows:
1. Coastal Site Development $589,658.00
2. Pavement Maintenance Inc. $629,750.00
3. American Design Engineering, Inc. $769,747.00
The engineers estimate for this project was $834,550.75.
The award of the contract for the construction is recommended based on the lowest responsible bid.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has awarded the City a grant for this project. Funding for this project is within the FY20 “pay as you go” Capital Improvement Program under G/L No. 335410-606300-20021.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff has reviewed the bid submittals and supporting documents and recommends that the contract be awarded to Coastal Site Development, in the amount of $589,658.00.
POTENTIAL MOTION:
“I move to authorize the City Manager to award the contract and approve the purchase order for the construction of the North Collier Boulevard Sidewalk Project to Coastal Site Development, in the amount not to exceed $589,658.00.”
