Approving a Purchase Order to Quality Enterprises, USA, in an Amount not to Exceed $179,709.00 for the South Barfield to South Bahama Storm Drain System Repair/Replacement

BACKGROUND:
The South Barfield to South Bahama Storm Drain System is an interconnecting pipe system that passes between properties at 128 & 138 S. Barfield Drive and 141 & 145 S. Bahama Avenue and to the outfall 148 S. Bahama Avenue. It passes stormwater from a portion of the Publix Center and street flows. The pipe has totally collapsed between 145 & 141 S. Bahama Ave. which is threatening both of these residential properties. The remaining pipe material is metal galvanized and is rusted and deteriorated the remaining entire length. This project will provide a liner pipe for a short segment and the installation of new HDPE pipe for the remainder of the system. The seawall will not be impacted by the construction.
Quality Enterprises, USA has been selected by piggy-backing on Collier County contract #14-6213.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this Purchase Order will be provided by the Public Works Capital Improvement Program “pay as you go” G/L No. 3005410-606300-16028, Master Plan Drainage Improvements Citywide which contains $431,345.25.
RECOMMENDATION:
City staff has reviewed the contractor’s proposal and recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve the purchase order for the construction related to the South Barfield to South Bahama Storm Drain System in the amount not to exceed $179,709.00.
