BACKGROUND

The attached Resolution will authorize the City to execute a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the construction of the  San Marco Road Sidewalk/Shared Use Pathway Project.

 

The project will consist of the construction of an 8-foot wide concrete Sidewalk/Shared Use Pathway (which may include some short 6-foot wide segments to accommodate existing driveway or utility conflicts) on San Marco Road from South Barfield Drive easterly to 400 feet east of Vintage Day Drive.  The entire length of this project is 1.4-miles.

 

FDOT has advised the City that it was eligible to receive a Transportation Grant in the amount of $1,329,114.00 for the construction of this project.  The City contributed $115,000.00 from the FY18 budget for the survey and design of this project.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for the project are contained within the proposed FY20 Capital Budget, if approved by the City Council.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the adoption of the Resolution and the authorization for the City Manager to execute the San Marco Road Sidewalk/Shared Use Pathway Project Local Agency Program Agreement with the FDOT and to continue to advance the project in accordance with the City of Marco Island Construction Standards Handbook for Work Within the Public Right-of-Way.
