BACKGROUND

The attached Resolution will authorize the City to execute a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the construction of the North Collier Boulevard Sidewalk Project.

 

The project will consist of the construction of sidewalks on both sides of North Collier Boulevard from Elkcam Circle easterly to Buttonwood Court and is designed to increase the width of the sidewalks to a maximum practical width, with 6-foot being the minimum width for the entire 1.4-mile project length.

 

FDOT has advised the City that it was eligible to receive a Transportation Grant in the amount of $655,579.00 for the construction of this project.  The City contributed $188,426.00 from the FY18 budget for the survey and design of this project.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for the project are contained within the proposed FY20 Capital Budget, if approved by the City Council.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the adoption of the Resolution and the authorization for the City Manager to execute the North Collier Boulevard Sidewalk Project Local Agency Program Agreement with the FDOT and to continue to advance the project in accordance with the City of Marco Island Construction Standards Handbook for Work Within the Public Right-of-Way.
