Resolution Accepting a 2018 State of Florida Homeland Security Grant for $28,450.

BACKGROUND

Since 2002, the State of Florida has awarded State Homeland Security Grant Program (“SHSGP”) grants for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction (“WMD”) to the City of Marco Island as the lead agency for distribution to the Collier County Regional Hazardous Material Team.  Attached for City Council’s consideration is the 2018 State Homeland Security Subgrant Program Recipient Agreement Expenditure of Local Government Unit Funding for Florida.

 

The Hazardous Material/WMD team is made up of Fire-Rescue Personnel from many agencies throughout the County.  The funds are identified by the fiscal year that they were made available.  The actual distribution of the grant funds is made in subsequent years.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:

The following is a breakdown of those funds:

 

FY2019 - Funds included in the new 2018 Subrecipient Agreement (recommended for execution below).  These funds need to be expended by September 1, 2020:

RECOMMENDATION:  Accept the Hazardous Materials Grant and authorize the City Manager to execute the 2018 SHSGP Agreement in the amount of $28,450 with the State of Florida Department of Emergency Management.
