Appointments to Audit Committee
Body
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Section 2-204 (1) (a) of the Code of Ordinances, the terms for the outgoing Audit Committee members will expire on May 31. Florida Statutes 218.391, requires that each local government establish an audit committee to assist the governing body in selecting an auditor to conduct the annual financial audit required by Florida Statutes 218.39. Duties of the audit committee are specified in F.S. 218.391(3), a copy of which is attached.
The vacancies were advertised in the newspapers, the City’s website, blast email and one-to-one outreach. City Councilors were asked to encourage participation and promote interest in the open positions.
Attached are the completed applications. Councilors Brechnitz, Rios and Young will each nominate one individual to serve on the Audit Committee. Councilors may defer selection to a later date, if necessary or desired.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N / A
RECOMMENDATION: Following the nominations to the committee, a motion by Council approving the three appointments.
POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to approve the appointments of ____(1)_____(2)____(3) to the Audit Committee.”
