Presentation - Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee - Committee Member Darin Spindler
Body
BACKGROUND:
With the consensus of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, Committee Member Darin Spindler will present a recommendation to enhance a parcel of City-owned property to promote burrowing owl habitation and establish a designated observation area.
The Committee anticipates advancing this concept in two phases. Phase One would involve engaging a landscape architect to prepare drawings and blueprints necessary to convert the parcel into a habitat conducive to burrowing owl nesting. Upon approval, the Committee intends to request Phase One funding from the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation. Phase Two would encompass the implementation of the project, during which the Committee would pursue financial support from grants and the community through targeted fundraising efforts.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funding will be managed via charitable contribution and donations.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive presentation and provide feedback on the project to Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
