BACKGROUND:
The Marco Island Police Department is requesting City Council to support the purchase of a new 25-foot Bimini boat to replace the police department's aging marine patrol vessel.
The department's current patrol vessel, a 10-year-old Bahia Ranger, has reached the end of its operational lifespan. Due to extensive hull wear, outdated navigation systems, and escalating mechanical issues, a full restoration is cost-prohibitive and impractical. The Bahia Ranger no longer provides the mechanical reliability required for critical marine law enforcement. Replacing it with a modern, purpose-built vessel is the most fiscally responsible and proactive course of action. This investment will:
Enhance Officer Safety: Modern hull design and updated engineering drastically reduce mechanical failure risks during rough water operations.
Improve Response Capabilities: Advanced navigation and faster deployment speeds ensure quicker responses to on-water emergencies.
Ensure Operational Readiness: A reliable vessel guarantees a consistent, visible law enforcement presence to protect our community's waterways
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funds Will be Available Upon City Council Approval in the Department's Capital Budget Account 3005210-606410-16112 For This Purpose.

RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to BITDirect for One 25' Bimini Boat, in the Amount of $173,687.80 Using TIPS Cooperative Contract # 230105. Approve the procurement of the 25' Bimini boat to secure long-term operational readiness and maintain public safety standards on the water.
