Letter of Support to the United Arts Council, Casey Lucius, Ph.D., Assistant City Manager

BACKGROUND:
Hyla Crane, the Executive Director of the Marco Island Center for the Arts and its Art Center Theatre is requesting a letter of support from the City Council to the United Arts Council to garner support for State funding that was vetoed from the state budget last year. Thirteen organizations in Collier County were impacted by the loss of grants totaling $2.3 million for Collier County. The United Arts Council Collier has obtained letters from the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council of Naples. The letter of support is attached for Council consideration.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: There is no cost to the City.
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend authorizing the Acting Chairman to sign a letter of support to the United Arts Council.
POTENTIAL MOTION: I move to authorize the Acting Chairman to sign the letter of support to the United Arts Council.
