BACKGROUND:
During the August 18, 2025 City Council meeting, Chairman Erik Brechnitz received Council consensus to extend an invitation to the Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to schedule an assessment of Marco Island City operations.
Chairman Brechnitz directed staff to add this item to a future agenda to formalize the approval.
Attached is a letter to Governor DeSantis, requesting an audit to the City of Marco Island.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N / A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the letter’s content and direct staff to mail to Governor DeSantis.
POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to direct staff to send this letter to Governor DeSantis to formally invite the Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to conduct an audit of Marco Island City operations”.
