Body

BACKGROUND:

The City Council has directed staff to bring to the Planning Board Sec. 50-37- Prohibited parking, for a discussion regarding the allowance of parking in the swales in the Old Marco district.

The Council had concerns with traffic congestion and parking in the swale during the evening hours. Prohibiting swale parking was discussed and the Council would like the Planning Board to review this section of the code.

Police and Code Enforcement was available for any questions.

The Planning Board discussed this item at the November 1, 2024, Planning Board meeting. The Planning Board recommended the City Council prohibit swale parking, north of Old Marco Lane, that does not have permitted improved parking.

The City Council discussed the Planning Board's recommendation on the November 18, City Council meeting. They directed staff to have another public meeting at the Planning Board, discussing the recommendation, and then bring their recommendation back to City Council in the form of an Ordinance.
