BACKGROUND:
On February 20th,2024, the City Council appointed 7 members to form a new Advisory Committee, the Ad Hoc Business Development and Redevelopment Committee. All newly appointed members were notified of their appointment by email on February 23, 2024, and provided with details for the first meeting. The meeting was publicly noticed and placed on the City website calendar.
The City has a policy for Committees (Section 2-206 of the Code of Ordinances) in that if a member misses 30% of a meeting scheduled during the year, that member shall vacate the position and another person will be appointed to fill that spot. The members of the newly formed Ad Hoc Business Development and Redevelopment Committee agreed to have 6 meetings across the year; this means that 2 missed meetings would require that Committee member to vacate their position.
Mr. Marv Needles did not attend the first meeting citing he was not aware of his appointment. He was absent from the second meeting of this Committee.
Mr. Needles has written a letter requesting the City Council to reappoint him to the Ad Hoc Business Development and Redevelopment Committee. He has considerable experience with conducting business on Marco Island and has successfully contributed to past Committees he served.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N / A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution 24-19 and re-appoint Mr. Marv Needles to the Ad Hoc Business Development and Redevelopment Committee.
POTENTIAL MOTION: ”I move to approve Resolution 24-19 re-appointing Mr. Marv Needles to the Ad Hoc Business Development and Redevelopment Committee.”
