Title

Resolution - Approving a Local Agency Program (LAP) Supplemental Agreement No. 2 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the Construction of the Collier Boulevard Alternate Bike Lanes Project - Justin Martin, P.E., Director, Public Works

Body

BACKGROUND

The attached Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute Local Agency Program (LAP) Supplemental Agreement No.2 with the Florida Department of Transportation. This agreement provides additional funding for the construction of the Collier Boulevard Alternate Bike Lanes Project.

The project will add in-road bike lanes serving as an alternate route for cyclists who currently travel north or south along Collier Boulevard, the busiest roadway on Marco Island. Collier Boulevard lacks the necessary width to safely accommodate a bicycle network by connecting to the lanes previously constructed on Landmark Street and by providing vital linkages to the major east-west bike lanes along San Marco Road and Winterberry Drive, as well as to the Florida Sun Trail Pathway.

Supplemental Agreement No.2 increases FDOT grant funding to a total of $5,129,109.00.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  This project will be reimbursed by the FDOT grant as outlined in the supplemental agreement.  Funds for the project will be added from the City’s capital reserves to the existing funds contained within the FY26 Capital Budget account number 300-5400-5410-606300-24006 until replenished by the reimbursement.

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends the adoption of Resolution 25-51 and authorization for the City Manager to execute the Collier Boulevard Alternate Bike Lanes Project Local Agency Program (LAP) Supplemental Agreement with FDOT and to proceed with the public bidding upon approval by FDOT.

POTENTIAL MOTION:   “I move to Authorize the City Manager to adopt Resolution 25-51”.
