BACKGROUND: The scope of services under this Purchase Order is intended for Coastal Engineering Consultants, Inc. to assist the City of Marco Island and the Hideaway Beach District Board perform the annual monitoring, surveys and reporting. All monitoring activities as described herein shall be conducted in accordance with the Physical Monitoring Plan (PMP) dated June 28, 2012, and the current version of the "Monitoring Standards for Beach Erosion Control Projects" as established by the DEP Bureau of Beaches and Coastal Systems (BBCS). Survey data will reference horizontal datum, Florida West Zone 1983, and vertical datum, NAVD88. The azimuths and line lengths shall coincide with the approved PMP.
The services include physical monitoring, offshore borrow area/disposal area, District and City support services, and (optional) nearshore borrow area.
Coastal Engineering Consultants, Inc. is a City-approved coastal engineering consultant under Contract No. 2023-009, effective through March 8, 2029.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: All the necessary funds are available in the Tax District's fiscal year 2026 budget (account #:150-5700-5371-523100).
RECOMMENDATION: City staff has reviewed this proposal and recommends that the City Council authorize the Interim City Manager to approve the purchase order to Coastal Engineering in the amount not to exceed $74,231 for the 2026 Hideaway Beach Erosion Control Project Monitoring Survey, and grant the Hideaway Beach Tax District Board Chair discretion to survey the near shore borrow area with notice to the other Boar...
