BACKGROUND

 

During the November 3, 2025 City Council meeting, Councilor Deb Henry provided a white paper that discussed amending Ordinance 04-12, Section 7 (Section 50-37 in the Code of Ordinances) pertaining to the prohibition of swale parking between the hours of 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. 

 

Her whitepaper addressed a request raised by a Marco Island resident during the Citizen Comment portion of August 18, 2025, City Council meeting.  

 

If passed, the attached Ordinance amendment would allow for the parking of 1 vehicle per family household (on the adjoining swale area) during the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. with a vehicle parking permit.

 

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  To cover administrative costs, permit fees are recommended and the recommended amount will be presented at the second reading.

 

PUBLIC NOTICE REQUIREMENTS:   Ordinance read by title on at least 2 separate days and shall be noticed in a newspaper of general circulation at least 10 days prior to the second reading. A Business Impact Statement shall be available on the City Website prior to the legal notification.
