DESCRIPTION:
Property owners and agents attended the January 19th City Council meeting to request relaxed parking requirements for commercial buildings built before city incorporation.
Attached is their amended language and a sample list of affected buildings.
The proposal exempts certain buildings from current parking requirements when there is a change in use.
Staff provided a location map for these buildings and included ordinances regulating parking since 1974.
PLANNING BOARD
On March 6, 2026, the Planning Board asked property owners and agents seeking parking requirement changes to provide more data before deciding on potential adjustments to the Land Development Code parking requirements. The attachment titled “Summary Request for Staff Rev – NEW” is the new information provided by owners/agents for this meeting.

Sec. 30-482. General applicability.
Wherever in any zoning district off-street parking facilities are provided for the parking or display of any and all types of vehicles, boats or heavy construction equipment, whether such vehicles, boats or equipment are self-propelled or not, and all land upon which vehicles traverse the property as a function of the primary use (including "drive-in" facilities) hereinafter referred to as "other vehicular uses," such facilities and land shall conform to the minimum requirements of this article.
