Chair Needles’ Committee Update (M. Needles)

BACKGROUND: At the Committee’s May 7, 2025 meeting, Chair Needles thanked and complimented Committee Member Cory for his execution of the Committee's April 25, 2025 Arbor Day Event, and he briefly outlined the details of his 2026 Fiscal Year budget presentation and request to the Marco Island City Council on May 5, 2025.
Chair Needles requested that Public Works Director Martin provide insight on the removal of trees by Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) along Bald Eagle Drive north of San Marco Road, and Committee Member Myers shared several photos and her understanding of LCEC's responsibilities regarding the removal and replacement of trees.
Chair Needles also reminded the Committee of its responsibilities to discuss all items of Committee business during properly noticed and agendized Committee meetings as provided Florida's Sunshine Law.
At the June 4, 2025 meeting, Chair Needles will update the Committee on his progress in obtaining responses from the commercial property owners along East Elkcam Circle regarding potentially contributing to the planting of new trees between Bald Eagle Drive and Collier Boulevard, and he will brief the Committee on other relevant items of interest.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Fiscal Year 2026.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive Chair Needles’ report.
