Title

2025 Arbor Day Celebration Plan (M. Cory)

Body

BACKGROUND:  At the Committee’s March 5, 2025 meeting, Committee Member Michael Cory volunteered to lead the planning and execution of the Committee’s 2025 Arbor Day celebration. A Proclamation declaring April 25, 2025 as “National Arbor Day” was proclaimed at the March 17th Marco Island City Council Meeting.

Member Cory will review his proposed date and plan for Marco Island’s celebration of Arbor Day, and he will solicit Committee volunteers to assist in executing the Committee’s 2025 Event.

[Editorial Note: photos and a summary of the Committee’s 2024 Arbor Day actions are attached to this document]

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  Expect a Committee budget allocation request to fund the procurement and planting of at least one tree in a yet-to-be-determined location in honor of Arbor Day 2025. The Committee may also decide to allocate a portion of its 2025 Fiscal Year Budget toward procuring a recognition plaque and stand to identify the newly-planted tree’s 2025 Arbor Day significance.

RECOMMENDATION:  Receive Member Cory’s update and plan; volunteer to assist in the execution of the Committee’s 2025 Arbor Day Event.

POTENTIAL MOTIONS

I move that the Committee allocate (amount TBD) from its 2025 Fiscal Year Budget to fund the planting of a tree in recognition of its 2025 Arbor Day Celebration.
