BACKGROUND:
FDOT's inspection of the Goldenrod bridge on January 22, 2024, identified deficiencies that must be addressed. Repairs are necessary to ensure the continued safe use of the bridge and maintain its structural integrity. The City’s consultant prepared repair specifications, and the project was subsequently put out for public bid.
The project (ITB #2025-020) was advertised on March 09, 2025. It was broadcast to 796 vendors, 26 of whom downloaded the bid package. The City received two responsive bids on April 17, 2025. The bids include a $15,000 owner’s contingency for unforeseen expenses.

Upon examining the submitted bids, City staff has determined that Villa-Fuerte Construction, LLC, is the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder. City staff recommends awarding the contract to repair the Goldenrod bridge to Villa-Fuerte Construction, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this project is provided in the capital “PW Annual Bridge Rehab” account 300-5400-5410-606300-16024.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the contract to Villa-Fuerte Construction, LLC, for the repair of the Goldenrod bridge in the amount not exceeding $138,000.00.
POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Villa-Fuerte Construction, LLC, to repair the Goldenrod bridge in the amount not to exceed $138,000.00.”
