Appointment to the Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)

BACKGROUND:
The Collier MPO was established in 1982 following the Federal Highway Act that required urbanized areas to develop transportation plans and programs as a condition to receive federal capital or operating assistance. The Collier MPO is currently governed by a nine (9) member board including five members from the Collier County Board of Commissioners, two from the City of Naples, one from Everglades City, and one from the City of Marco Island. The Florida Department of Transportation is represented on the board as a non-voting member.
The Marco Island board member, former councilor Chuck Kiester, resigned effective at the end of his term of office. Council must now appoint a representative to fill the vacant seat. A copy of the Collier MPO 2015 Meeting Schedule is attached.
For reference, Councilor Brown currently serves on the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee and Councilor Sacher serves on the Tourist Development Council.
