Title
Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to United Rentals for the Purchase of a New Track Loader for the Public Works Department in the Amount of $73,508.75 - Justin Martin, P.E., Director, Public Works
Body
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is requesting the purchase of a new Track Loader with bucket attachment to support daily maintenance, construction, and emergency response operations. The Track Loader will be utilized for a wide range of Public Works activities including swale grading and restoration, sidewalk removal and replacement, roadway and shoulder repairs, debris removal, drainage work, asphalt milling, material loading and transport, pallet handling, site cleanup, and storm response operations.
Currently, the Department must use the large Gradall which is not suited for smaller scale work. The Department has also had to rely on rented equipment or contractor support to complete routine maintenance and construction activities. Ownership of this equipment will improve operational efficiency, reduce equipment rental costs, improve response times for maintenance and emergency operations, and provide greater flexibility for Public Works crews to complete projects in-house.
The equipment will also improve the Department's ability to perform post-storm cleanup and emergency response activities during hurricane season and other severe weather events.
Quotes were obtained from three vendors with government contract pricing for the Track Loader and associated equipment. The lowest responsive quote was submitted by United Rentals in the amount of $73,508.75.
