Title
Recognition - Marco Island Police Department Achieves CFA Re-Accreditation
Body
BACKGROUND:
The Marco Island Police Department successfully achieved re-accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) following a comprehensive review of the department’s policies, procedures, training, and operational practices. The formal re-accreditation ceremony was held on February 19, 2026, in St. Augustine. This marks the department’s first re-accreditation since initially earning accredited status on February 23, 2023.
Participation in the accreditation program is voluntary and demonstrates the department’s commitment to professional excellence and accountability. Re-accreditation is widely regarded as the most rigorous phase of the accreditation cycle because it involves a three-year review and confirms that the department continues to meet established professional standards in law enforcement. The assessment team commended the agency for its organization, compliance, and overall professionalism, citing no corrective actions or findings of non-compliance.
This achievement reflects the Marco Island Police Department’s ongoing dedication to transparency, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional service to the community. The accreditation review process occurs every three years.
