Title

Identification of Potential Tree Planting Initiatives from the Committee’s 2025 Tree Fund (All)

Body

BACKGROUND:  At the Committee’s October 2, 2024 meeting, Public Works Director Justin Martin confirmed that the $30,000.00 reflected in the Committee's 2025 Fiscal Year Tree Fund account could fund additional tree plantings under the Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years Program, and he encouraged the Committee to set its priorities and implementation plan for utilizing the existing $30,000.00 budget within the current budget year which ends September 30, 2025.

The Committee has already approved an allocation of up to $1,000.00 from the 2025 FY Tree Fund to plant a memorial tree in the new, as-yet-unnamed City park located adjacent to the Senior Living facility located at 1170 San Marco Road (Special New Business Item 24-3898 under Agenda Item 7 - New Business, October 2, 2024 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes). As a result, $29,000.00 of the Committee’s 2025 FY Tree Fund remains unallocated at this time.

The Committee will begin to identify and prioritize additional 2025 FY Tree Fund projects at its November 13, 2024 meeting.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  Sourced from the 2025 FY Tree Fund; allocations to be determined by the Committee.

RECOMMENDATION:  Identify a process for the Committee to identify and prioritize potential Tree Fund initiatives.

POTENTIAL MOTION:   None expected.
