Title
Award of Contract for Waypoint Construction for Winterberry Beach Access Boardwalk Repairs in the Amount of $430,903 (90% reimbursed by FEMA) - Joe Parrilli, Manager, Fleet & Facilities
Body
BACKGROUND:
The Winterberry beach access boardwalk, located at the corner of Winterberry Drive and South Collier Blvd., was damaged during Hurricane Ian. FEMA inspected the damage and assigned a project number for the required repairs. In January 2024, Bowman Architectural was hired to design the full repairs. A change order was issued to Bowman to design temporary repairs until the full repairs could be completed. Temporary repairs were completed in July 2024.
A public bid process for the full repairs was initiated in September, but only one bid was received that did not include the full scope of work. As a result, the City decided to reject the bid and reinitiated the public bid process at the end of September.
On October 3rd, the City received one bid from Waypoint Construction for $430,903 to perform all repairs. FEMA has conducted another inspection of the access and agreed to fund 90% of the project cost, with the City responsible for 10%.
