S. Heathwood Dr. Median Design Proposal & Budget Estimate (S. Connelly)

BACKGROUND:
At the Committee’s June 5 meeting, Committee Member Fiona Winter summarized the results of her investigation into "Adopt A Median" programs in operation in other cities in Florida, and she proposed that the Committee consider leveraging the learning of other communities that have implemented similar programs.
Chair Connelly expanded upon the topic of medians to re-engage the Committee on the median on South Heathwood Drive, just south of Winterberry Drive as had been discussed by the Committee on December 6, 2023 and January 10, 2024.
Ms. Connelly proposed that the Committee consider allocating a portion of its available 2024 fiscal year funds toward making the median on South Heathwood Drive, south of Winterberry Drive a visual "showcase" of what could be accomplished with a publicly-funded "Adopt A Median" program.
Two Motions were unanimously approved by the Committee. One allocated a portion of the Committee’s 2024 FY budget ($500) toward commissioning a design concept for this median, and a second allocated up to $3500 of the Committee’s 2024 FY budget toward the landscaping restoration and beautification of this median on South Heathwood Drive.
Chair Connelly will review the design proposal and budget estimate for executing a “showcase” project at the South Heathwood Drive median.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: To be funded from the Committee’s 2024 FY budget as outlined under “Background” above.
RECOMMENDATION: Review and provide input into the proposed design concept; determine the Committee’s next steps.
