BACKGROUND:
The City purchased the Annex building at 1310 San Marco Road in December 2020. The building was built in 1981, and the elevator is from the original construction. The elevator has been serviced by TK Elevator since 2013.
Florida building code, ASME Elevator Safety Code A17.3-2015 was updated to contain the requirement 3.10.12 which requires a system to monitor the position and state of the elevator cab doors and prevent a cab from operating when the door is not closed. Compliance with this code is required by August 1, 2025. All elevators manufactured prior to 2000 require upgraded equipment or full modernization.
Based on the age of the elevator, parts are no longer manufactured and can no longer be obtained. The Annex elevator has been inspected on three occasions by TK Elevator and determined to need a full modernization.
The City intends to piggyback off the Sourcewell contract #080420-TKE, which affords us a 20% discount off posted national pricing.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: There is $160,000 budgeted in FY24 for the City Hall Annex in Account 3005191-606200-24040.
