2025 Collier Boulevard Christmas Decorations - M. Needles

Body

BACKGROUND: At the Marco Island City Council Meetings of February 18 & May 5, 2025, Beautification Advisory Committee Chair Marv Needles, on behalf of the Committee, presented an overview of the Committee’s direction and its requests of the City Council for the 2026 Fiscal Year Budget (beginning October 1, 2025). The outlines of both presentations are attached.

Among Chair Needles’ requests of the City Council was a proposal to authorize additional Committee funding during Fiscal Year 2026 to extend the decoration and Holiday lighting of street light poles along Collier Boulevard from the base of the Judge SS Jolley Bridge to the Herb Savage Bridge (just beyond The Esplanade Shoppes at Marco Island).

Chair Needles has identified the number of street light poles to be decorated as follows:

-                     From the Judge SS Jolley Bridge to North Barfield Drive                     :    38 light poles

-                     From North Barfield Drive to East Elkcam Circle                                          :    46 light poles

-                     From East Elkcam Circle to Bald Eagle Drive                                                               :    23 light poles

-                     From Bald Eagle Drive to West Elkcam Circle                                                               :    26 light poles

-                     From West Elkcam Circle to Tigertail Court                                                               :    22 light poles

Total                                                                  155 light poles

Chair Needles will review his proposal with the Committee at its September 3rd meeting.
