South Heathwood Drive "Tree Fund" Plantings (All)
Body

BACKGROUND: At the Committee's April 2, 2025 meeting, Public Works Director Justin Martin reported that the City's Water & Sewer Department had completed its underground survey and had identified locations along South Heathwood Drive where new trees may be planted without undue risk to existing water and sewer utility infrastructure.

At the Committee's May 7, 2025 meeting, Public Works Director Martin presented a series of Google Earth photos of the area along South Heathwood Drive, south of Lily Court, and extending south of Winterberry Drive, that identified swale locations where new trees might be planted.

The City's water truck began a regular schedule of watering the newly-planted trees.

A review and discussion of the Committee's oversight role in ensuring the nurturing and continued development of these newly-planted trees is anticipated at the Committee's September 3rd meeting.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Funding was allocated from the Committee's 2025 Tree Fund to complete this project. No additional funding is anticipated.

RECOMMENDATION: Review and discuss the Committee's ongoing role; determine next steps, if any.
