Resolution – Approving the Reappointment of Directors Serving on the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation, Inc. – Joan Taylor, City Clerk

BACKGROUND:
The Marco Island Community Parks Foundation was organized as a not-for-profit corporation in January 2020 to provide educational, cultural and charitable support for the City’s Parks. The Board of Directors consists of no less than 7 and no more than 11 Directors (in addition to the City Clerk who is an ex-officio member of the Board).
The City Council is reappointing the following five (5) individuals to a new, 2 year- term (Section 6.5 Term of Directors, Articles of Incorporation) on the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation, Inc., Board of Directors:
1. Mike Ilitch Jr.(Term expires September 2027)
2. Rene Champagne (Term expires September 2027)
3. David Cox (Term expires September 2027)
4. Erik Brechnitz (Term expires September 2027)
5. Jim Richards (Term expires September 2027)
The above mentioned Directors were initially appointed members to the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation by the City Council
Note, the Chair of the City’s Parks and Recreation Committee is the Director of the Board They are automatically appointed to the Board according to the annual term limit of Chairing the Parks and Recreation Committee.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: No budget impact.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Resolution 25-40.
POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to approve Resolution 25-40, for reappointment of 5 individuals (Mr. Illich, Jr., Mr. Champagne, Mr. Cox, Mr. Brechnitz, and Mr. Richards) to a renewed 2-year term of the Marco Island Community Parks Foundation Board of Directors.”
