PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Caxambas Park abuts water bodies more than 100 feet wide, allowing for a dock to protrude up to thirty (30) feet from the property line. The request is to extend the dock an additional three (3) feet for the Collier County Sheriff's docking facility for a total protrusion of thirty-three (33) feet.

The application, plans and additional information are attached.


FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: Applicant has paid $1,500.00 in applicable fees.


PUBLIC NOTICE REQUIREMENTS: 15 days prior to the City Council hearing.

PLANNING BOARD SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION:

The Planning Board held a public hearing and considered this request at their March 7, 2025 meeting. The item was presented and Planning Board discussion included unpermitted parking modifications to Caxambas Park, how Collier County needs to follow the rules and a violation notice needs to be issued to Collier County, possibly conditioning an approval, the slip is for the exclusive use of the Sherrif's department, and safety concerns. After discussion the Planning Board voted 5-2 to forward a recommendation of approval with the below findings and condition.

Findings:

1. The dock will meet the other requirements and boat facility standards in the Land Development Code.
2. The applicant indicates there is sufficient water depth at the proposed location.
