Title
Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to All Roads Kenworth, LLC for the Purchase of a T880 Kenworth Semi Tractor for the Water and Sewer Department in the Amount of $194,997.00 - Jeffrey Poteet, General Manager, Water & Sewer
Body
BACKGROUND:
The need to replace one of the Water and Sewer Department's semi tractors was presented to the City Council during the June 19, 2023, Capital Improvement Program Workshop and funding was subsequently approved in the FY 2024 budget.
The Water & Sewer Department currently operates two semi tractors: a 1984 AM General and a 2009 Freightliner. The AM General is used daily at the North Water Treatment Plant (NWTP) to move lime sludge trailers. However, it is restricted to onsite use, frequently requires repairs, and needs to be replaced. The Freightliner, which hauls a 6,400-gallon trailer between locations, is also showing signs of age and has undergone multiple repairs. It would be more suitable to replace the AM General at the NWTP with the Freightliner, as the Freightliner would remain onsite and reduce the amount of wear and tear. Consequently, the 1984 AM General will be sent to auction, and the 2009 Freightliner will be reassigned to the NWTP once a new semi tractor is acquired.
The new semi tractor will be purchased using the pricing from the Florida Sheriffs Association Contract FSA-VEH21.0 through All Roads Kenworth, LLC. The FY 2024 CIP budget, approved by the City Council, includes $200,000 for this replacement.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: FY24 Capital Improvement Program (431 fund).
