Title

Debrief of 2025 Marco In Bloom Contest Execution & Plan for Next Year (L. Scherzinger)

Body

BACKGROUND:  At the Committee’s April 2, 2025 meeting, Committee Member Victoria Myers shared the summary scores provided by each Committee member during the Marco In Bloom property judging activity, and Committee Vice-Chair Linda Scherzinger complimented and thanked the members of the Committee for their diligence and thoughtfulness in assessing each of the candidate properties.

Vice-Chair Scherzinger, with support from Committee Member Victoria Myers, reviewed the presentation that she had prepared for the announcement of winning properties at the April 7th City Council Meeting, soliciting Committee member remarks and descriptive comments for each of the top-scoring properties in each judging category. Together, Ms. Scherzinger and Ms. Myers presented the award yard signs to the winning property owners at the April 7th City Council Meeting.

Committee Chair Marv Needles suggested that the Committee review its property categories and judging criteria for the 2026 Marco In Bloom Contest to better assess the "appearance" elements versus the "Florida-friendliness" elements of next year's candidate properties.

The Committee may also wish to contribute and consider other potential improvements for the execution of the 2026 Marco In Bloom Contest.
