2024 City Council Meeting Schedule Discussion - Joan Taylor, City Clerk

BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to the City of Marco Island Code of Ordinances, the City Council shall schedule a minimum of twelve regular meetings each year with at least one meeting held during each month. During the November 6, 2023, City Council meeting, Council members set a schedule for 23 regular City Council meetings across 2024, consisting of 2 meetings per month and one meeting in December.
The Council is considering eliminating two 2 meetings in 2024: the first meeting in July (July 8) and the first meeting in August (August 5). July and August will continue to have a meeting scheduled for each month: July 22 and August 19.
Potential initiatives impacted with the reduced meeting schedule:
July 7 meeting:
• Award of Contract for Pickleball Center Construction
• Parks Master Plan Presentation by Consultants
August 5 meeting:
• Applications made to Planning Board during the month of July
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATION: Councilors to discuss with Staff and themselves potential to eliminate one regular City Council meeting each month during July (July 8th meeting) and August (August 5th) .
