Title
Recommendation for Approval of the Street Light Banner Policy and Application Form - Justin Martin, P.E., Director, Public Works
Body
BACKGROUND:
The City of Marco Island maintains ornamental light poles and fixtures along Collier Boulevard, many of which are equipped with fixed banner arms designed for the display of decorative banners that enhance the island’s character and aesthetic appeal. This policy governs the display of such banners. To ensure that banners installed on City-owned poles contribute positively to the City’s image, the Beautification Advisory Committee has developed the Street Light Banner Policy for City Council review and consideration. The Committee believes that adopting this policy will provide clear guidelines and requirements for non-profit and not-for-profit charitable organizations to display banners safely and appropriately, while preserving the City’s beauty and establishing standardized fees which help to cover the City’s costs for maintenance of the banner support infrastructure.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
Fees collected from organizations that will display banners on city-owned light poles will help to offset the maintenance costs of the banner supports. Approval of this policy will not result in additional costs to the City.
